F52 on an older Thermador C, CM or CJ302 oven is a contradiction alarm. The control reads the upper door as locked and open at the same moment, which cannot be true, so it assumes a switch problem and halts. You may notice it after a self-clean attempt or when the door was moved while the oven was warming. This applies to the legacy C271 through CM302 family.
1. Close the upper door firmly and leave it alone. 2. Cut power at OFF or the breaker and give it 3 minutes. 3. Turn the power back on and watch the display. 4. If F52 shows again, note it and your model number. Do not try to release the latch by hand.
Two door inputs disagree. One says the latch is engaged, the other says the door is open. That conflict usually comes from a switch that sticks or a connection that has loosened.
The control stops the oven because it cannot confirm the door state. We advise leaving the upper oven unused until a technician confirms the latch, especially before any cleaning cycle.
A one-time bump might set it, and a reset can clear it. If F52 returns, treat it as a worn or jammed switch and have it tested.
Our technician checks it in your home and hands you a written price before touching anything.
