What F62 means

F62 is a higher-priority code on older Thermador C-series, CM-series and CJ302 ovens. The control saw an over-temperature condition in the lower oven while a cleaning cycle was running and shut things down to protect itself. The source ties it to an intermittent temperature sensor or the power/relay board. Do not restart a cleaning cycle until the oven has been checked.

Usual causes of F62

  • Intermittent lower oven temperature sensor
  • Wiring at the sensor header on the power/relay board
  • Power/relay board that misreads the sensor signal
✓ A safe check worth trying

1. Cancel the cycle with OFF and let the oven cool fully with the door closed. 2. Keep pets, children and flammable items away from the area. 3. After cooling, reset power for 3 minutes. 4. Do not start another clean cycle. Note F62 and your model number, then call us.

! Why you should stop here
  • Over-temperature codes involve safety circuits that should be tested before reuse
  • Sensor resistance checks need a meter at the board
  • Running another clean cycle risks overheating the cavity again
Taking off a panel yourself does not by default void a manufacturer warranty, yet it can lead to accidental damage, and some manufacturers attach their own service terms. Read your warranty paperwork, or ask us, before you decide.

F62F62 questions
Is F62 dangerous?

The oven shut itself down for a reason, so we treat it seriously. Let it cool, avoid more cleaning cycles, and have a technician check the sensor before regular use.

Why only during cleaning?

Self-clean runs far hotter than baking, so a sensor that misreads shows up there first. The code itself says the over-temperature happened while cleaning. The exact wording on the display helps us prepare.

Can I just bake instead?

We would not rely on it. If the sensor is intermittent, bake temperatures may also be wrong. Wait for a check, which is usually quick for this cause.
