Top and bottom ovens on the MEDS302BS are different animals. Above is a 4.5 cu ft convection oven carrying Thermador’s usual Self Clean cycle and a Rotisserie rated for 12 lb; below is a 2.8 cu ft oven that can steam, fed from a removable water tank instead of a plumbed line. Both run 17 modes. Between them they use 8,350 watts on a 240/208V, 40A circuit.
Because the cavities clean in different ways, “my oven won’t clean” prompts a question from us first: which oven? A stuck door lock after upstairs self-clean is one repair, while a tank or steam-generator problem downstairs is quite another.
While there we also inspect the MaxBroil element, rotisserie drive and Multi-Point probe above, and look for scale in the steam generator below. Home Connect rounds out the checks.
No. Thermador's regular Self Clean cycle handles the upper oven, but the steam-capable lower one uses a steam-based cleaning process of its own and never gets a high-heat burn.
Up to 12 lb per Thermador's product listing, the same as on the brand's other double ovens fitted with a rotisserie. Anything much lighter that makes the motor strain suggests wear.
Not necessarily. The cavities have separate systems, so tell us which one is affected and any display message. We test the troubled cavity on its own and confirm the other is sound.
