Top of the Professional Collection double ovens is the POD302W. It has two 4.5 cu ft cavities, the upper with 16 modes and a Rotisserie, plus a Multi-Point Temperature Meat Probe and a 12-pass MaxBroil broiler rated at 4,800W. Altogether it draws 9,200W through a 40A circuit at 240/208V. Thermador’s website lists the model as out of stock at present.
Owners sometimes notice broiling that is faster and fiercer than on a basic oven and wonder if something is wrong. It is not; MaxBroil simply runs hotter than a standard element. A broil mode that produces no heat at all is another matter and usually means the element has burned out.
The rotisserie is rated for 12 lb, so a motor that struggles with far less is more likely worn than underpowered. We also test the probe’s measurement points, each cavity’s cleaning lock and Home Connect.
It offers more modes (16 upper and 13 lower, against 13 in each cavity), a Rotisserie, a Multi-Point probe instead of Single-Point, and the higher-wattage MaxBroil element, per Thermador's spec sheets. That makes it the higher-tier double oven.
Thermador still lists this model, and we still confirm part availability before quoting any repair that needs a part.
Most likely it is normal. The MaxBroil element runs far hotter than an ordinary broil element, so quick, strong browning is expected. If the broiler produces no heat at all, call us.
