MED302JP

Thermador MED302JP

What we most often repair on units like this

  1. Safety switch-off tripping the oven during a long bake
  2. Lower oven slow to heat, or Max Convection Broil not firing
  3. Fan noise or stalled airflow
  4. Door lock holding on after cleaning
  5. Hinge dampers worn
  6. Sensor drift between cavities

Two cavities with near-identical capability is the idea behind the MED302JP: 4.7 cu. ft. each, 14 modes above and 13 below, so a recipe can run in either oven. What sets it apart in a service call is the safety switch-off function. If a cavity has been on for a very long time the oven turns itself off, and customers who did not set it often assume the oven has failed.

That makes the first question simple: did the oven shut down on its own, or did a part fail? We read the control’s behavior, then test the cavity the way it should work. Lower-oven Max Convection Broil leans on the broil element at its hardest, so an element that is cracked or sagging shows up there.

Power is 8000 watts at 40 amps, so we confirm both legs of the 240/208 volt feed. The electronic lock and SoftClose hinges are inspected last, and a written estimate precedes any order.

MED302JPMED302JP questions
My oven switched itself off during a long roast. Is it broken?

Possibly not. The safety switch-off function ends a cycle after an extended period. We confirm that is the cause, then test the sensor and board to rule out an actual failure.

What does Max Convection Broil need to run properly?

It needs the broil element, the convection fan and a working sensor all in sync. If browning is weak, we test element current first, then the fan.

Do both ovens share one temperature sensor?

No. Each cavity has its own sensor, which is why one oven can drift while the other stays accurate. We compare the two against a reference thermometer.
