Thermador DWHD870WFM (Masterpiece Collection)
Once the flagship of the W-series, the 870WFM is the model for a household that serves large meals: its Entertainer’s Drawer holds bigger serving pieces and utensils than the Chef’s Tool Drawer on the 650W and 660W models. It adds StarDry Zeolite drying and a softener, at the 44 dBA rating of the 660W tier.
The drying system is the part that sets it apart when we visit. If E2120 or E2130 shows, the chamber heater and fan are looked at on their own, just as on current Zeolite models, and kept apart from the drain and inflow electronics. Softener upkeep is the other routine item. The model has been discontinued, so we mention parts availability in the estimate.
Owners of this model tend to run it for large gatherings, so we also run a full cycle after the repair to confirm that draining, filling and drying all work together.
It gives you more space for big serving pieces and utensils. Mechanically it remains a third-rack drawer that performs the same basic job. Owners who regularly load big platters tend to notice the difference most.
Zeolite is intended as a reusable drying medium that needs no routine replacement. Dishes that stay damp point to the chamber heater or the fan instead.
The heater and fan inside the drying chamber, since those are what E2120 and E2130 describe, ahead of any drain or fill parts. Only once those are cleared do we look at the drain pump and the inlet side.
