Thermador DWHD870WPR (Panel-Ready)
A custom panel hides the flagship of an older Thermador generation here. The 870WPR has the StarDry Zeolite drying system, Entertainer’s Drawer and softener of its WFM and WFP siblings, but is mounted fully integrated behind the cabinet front.
On a service visit, the panel is where we begin the check on an older installation, followed by the Zeolite and softener items specific to the 870 spec. Each is judged as a separate subsystem so that a drain or inflow code is not confused with a drying or softening matter. The set of checks is the same as on the finished-front versions, with the extra panel step added first.
We usually begin by opening and closing the door a few times to see how the panel behaves, then move to whatever the display shows.
No. Drawer capacity stays the same whatever the front panel is. Only the outside look changes once a custom panel is mounted. The drawer is simply loaded the same way, and the panel hides it from view whenever the door is shut.
Usually the panel unmounts from its bracket and the whole door assembly stays in place, though that depends on how the panel was first installed.
This unit has several independent systems. Treating them apart lets us find the real cause rather than blaming whichever part happens to sit closest to the complaint.
