What E2120 means

Dishes come out damp at the end of the cycle and E2120 is displayed. Thermador documents this code as a problem with the heater in the Zeolite (Crystal Dry) chamber. That chamber is the part of the drying system that uses mineral material, so a heater that fails there takes the drying stage with it.

Usual causes of E2120

  • A heater inside the Zeolite drying chamber that has stopped working
✓ A safe check worth trying

1. Turn the breaker for the dishwasher off. 2. Wait thirty seconds. 3. Restore power and let the control start up. 4. Run a short cycle and check for the code. If it returns, leave the machine alone and call us with the model number.

! Why you should stop here
  • The Zeolite chamber is buried in the drying system, so it is not a place for home repair.
  • Without the repair, every cycle may finish with wet dishes no matter how you load them.
Taking off a panel yourself does not by default void a manufacturer warranty, yet it can lead to accidental damage, and some manufacturers attach their own service terms. Read your warranty paperwork, or ask us, before you decide.

E2120E2120 questions
What is Crystal Dry, or Zeolite drying?

It is Thermador's mineral-based drying technology. This code only applies to models that have that feature, so a model without it will not show E2120.

Can I just open the door early to help drying?

That may help a little in the meantime, but it does not address the failed heater. It is a stopgap while you wait for a repair.

Do I need to replace the whole drying system?

Not necessarily. The code names the heater, so we test that part first and quote only what the test shows, in writing, before we do the work.
