What F82 means

On older Thermador C-series, CM-series and CJ302 double ovens, F82 is the lower door position error. The control reads the lower door as both locked and open, which cannot happen, so it stops the cavity. It follows the same logic as F52 for the upper oven. Expect the code after a clean cycle, a door bump, or when a switch has started to stick.

Usual causes of F82

  • Lower door switch or latch that has jammed or failed
  • Wiring at the lower door headers and the shared connector
  • Power/relay board, if the persistent conflict remains
✓ A safe check worth trying

1. Shut the lower door gently and do not slam it. 2. Reset power by touching OFF or switching the breaker off for 3 minutes. 3. Watch whether F82 reappears. 4. If it does, write down the code and model number, then call. Do not try to release the lock yourself.

! Why you should stop here
  • Comparing the two door signals requires a meter
  • A forced lock assembly is expensive to replace
  • We want the switches proven before any board goes in
Taking off a panel yourself does not by default void a manufacturer warranty, yet it can lead to accidental damage, and some manufacturers attach their own service terms. Read your warranty paperwork, or ask us, before you decide.

F82F82 questions
What are the two signals that disagree?

One input reports the door as locked and another reports it open. Real doors cannot be both, so the control assumes a switch or wire problem.

Can F82 and F52 happen together?

They refer to separate cavities, so both could appear if both doors have switch trouble. We check each set on its own. A quick note of when it happened is useful.

Is a technician needed for a one-off F82?

A one-off after a bump may clear on reset. If it comes back, book a visit so the switch is tested before it fails completely.

Is F82 still showing?
