E9 on a legacy Thermador CT or CMT oven with the Dreefs control concerns the door latch. The second page of the service document says the latch motor may run while its switches fail to cycle, and recommends replacing the latch in the affected oven. Heat shuts off in that oven. Turning the oven off stops the message, which then reappears only when the selector is set to CLEAN.
1. Turn the selector to OFF and tweak it slightly counterclockwise to stop the flashing and beeping. 2. Cut power to the oven for a moment at the breaker and restore it, as the document advises for E9. 3. Bake normally. 4. Do not start CLEAN; if E9 stays with the selector OFF, call us.
The latch is only demanded during cleaning, when the door must lock. Normal baking skips that test, so the control stays quiet until you pick CLEAN.
Please do not. Forcing a latch can bend the mechanism or glass. If the door seems stuck, switch the oven off at the breaker, let it cool, and call us.
It clears the message but cannot repair a latch whose switches do not cycle. If E9 returns in CLEAN, the latch is the likely culprit and needs inspection.
