MED301JS

Thermador MED301JS

What we most often repair on units like this

  1. Oven is slow to heat or stops short of the set temperature
  2. An "E" followed by a number shows on the display, with a beeping alert
  3. Door stays locked once a self-clean cycle is over
  4. Temperature probe gives inaccurate readings or is not detected

Thermador’s Masterpiece Series includes the MED301JS, a single electric wall oven 30 inches wide. Inside, a 4.7 cu. ft. cavity gets True Convection, quick preheating and a self-clean cycle of 2 hours. Owners of this kind of oven tend to be serious bakers, and the temperature probe and SoftClose door hinge round out the kitchen-friendly extras.

Behind the glass it follows the heating, convection and control-board layout of Thermador’s other wall ovens of that generation. So when an “E” followed by a number appears with a beep, the documented routine applies: reset once, and call for service if that same code comes back.

The probe is the one part unique to this feature set, so we test its connection and continuity separately before blaming the control board. If baking is off but the probe checks out, we move on to the heating circuit and sensor. Slow preheating is treated as part of the full heating check rather than as a separate part.

MED301JSMED301JS questions
If the probe quits, will my oven still bake?

Typically yes. Regular baking and convection modes run independently of the probe, so a bad probe usually only affects recipes that rely on it. We can test the probe on its own.

Can fast preheat break by itself?

Not as a separate part. It relies on the same heating and control system that handles everyday baking, so a slow preheat gets diagnosed during the full heating test, with no extra part to order.

Why would the MED301JS beep and show an E number?

The control found something it did not like. Press a key once to silence it. If the code returns, a real problem is present and we should look at it before you use the oven again.
