On older Thermador CT ovens with the Dreefs control, E12 sits beside E11 as another latch switch entry. The service document says the oven will not clean and recommends replacing the latch. Heat shuts off on the failed oven; turning the oven off stops the message, and you will see it again only if the selector goes back to CLEAN. CMT combination ovens share the same table, so we confirm the model on site.
1. Rotate the selector to OFF with a small counterclockwise nudge to quiet the alert. 2. Switch the oven's power off for a few seconds and restore it, as the document says for E12. 3. Use bake or broil if they respond. 4. Avoid CLEAN, and call us if E12 remains with the selector OFF.
The control checks the latch when it must lock the door for cleaning. Turning the oven off clears the message, so it reappears only when CLEAN is selected again.
Yes, once it is cool, with mild cleaner and a soft cloth. Skipping the self-clean cycle avoids the latch test until we repair it, and it does not harm the oven.
We do not recommend it. The latch sits close to wiring that may be live, and a wrong swap can leave the door unable to lock. We can quote the repair in writing.
Our technician checks it in your home and hands you a written price before touching anything.
