On older Thermador C-series, CM-series and CJ302 double ovens, F82 is the lower door position error. The control reads the lower door as both locked and open, which cannot happen, so it stops the cavity. It follows the same logic as F52 for the upper oven. Expect the code after a clean cycle, a door bump, or when a switch has started to stick.
1. Shut the lower door gently and do not slam it. 2. Reset power by touching OFF or switching the breaker off for 3 minutes. 3. Watch whether F82 reappears. 4. If it does, write down the code and model number, then call. Do not try to release the lock yourself.
One input reports the door as locked and another reports it open. Real doors cannot be both, so the control assumes a switch or wire problem.
They refer to separate cavities, so both could appear if both doors have switch trouble. We check each set on its own. A quick note of when it happened is useful.
A one-off after a bump may clear on reset. If it comes back, book a visit so the switch is tested before it fails completely.
Our technician checks it in your home and hands you a written price before touching anything.
