FF on older Thermador SC, SCD, SM and SMW ovens indicates a bad analog/digital converter. That is the circuit that turns the sensor signal into a number the control can use. The service document points to an intermittent sensor or the main power/relay board, and gives a replacement order: the temperature sensor first, then the main board.
1. Allow the oven to cool. 2. Switch it off at OFF or the breaker, wait 3 minutes, and restore power. 3. If FF returns, jot down the code and your model number. 4. Skip any attempt to remove the sensor. Call us.
A small circuit on the board that reads the sensor's resistance and turns it into digital data. If it misreads, the control sees values it cannot trust.
The source lists the sensor first and the main board second. An intermittent sensor can cause the same code, so ruling it out is the sensible start.
The oven will not run reliably, but this code is not described as a safety alarm. Stop using it and book a check. We explain what we find and put the price in writing first.
Our technician checks it in your home and hands you a written price before touching anything.
