Thermador DWHD860RFM
This one is for a tighter budget of space and noise. The DWHD860RFM has 14 place settings, a TurboSpeed 20min program for quick turnarounds, and no zeolite drying: it relies on the Extra Dry option. That makes the drying element and vent the first checks when dishes come out wet.
The outlet hose is 55 1/8 inches, noticeably shorter than on the Sapphire models, and the cutout is 34 1/8 inches tall, so access behind the unit is limited. We check the hose route, the connection at the disposer or air gap, and the supply valve before pulling it out.
A short cycle such as TurboSpeed 20min relies on heated water and powerful circulation, so the heater and the circulation pump are tested together. Thermador’s page shows the model without a successor and with a lower availability code, so we do not describe it as current.
Not necessarily. The cycle may be extending because the water is not reaching temperature. We test the heater, the temperature sensor and the incoming water temperature before replacing parts.
Plastic holds less heat, so it dries poorly. If other dishes are also damp, we check the heater, vent and Extra Dry settings. Placing plastic on the top rack helps.
The 55 1/8 inch hose is short, so we plan carefully. We shut off water and power, disconnect at the front where possible and avoid pulling the hose tight.
