CM302

Thermador CM302

What we most often repair on units like this

  1. Inconsistent Custom Combination Mode, traced to a weakening magnetron
  2. Probe or probe port fails whenever Convection Roast and Probe Mode is used
  3. Convection fan motor wear
  4. A worn door seal lets down microwave containment and heat retention alike
  5. Aging control panel or relays, typical of this generation

Thermador’s manual treats the CM302 as a close sibling of the CM301 rather than a separate design: each is a legacy convection/microwave wall oven, 30 inches wide, offering Custom Combination Mode, a separate Microwave Mode, charts for Convection Bake, Roast and Broil, and a Convection Roast and Probe Mode that uses a probe. The two share one manual, one model family and one feature set.

That makes our approach the same as for the CM301. Microwave-side signs, such as weak or absent heat, arcing or a turntable that has stopped, are kept apart from convection-side signs, namely uneven baking and probe errors, because the two heating systems fail independently.

Where a nameplate shows something different from the manual, we go with the nameplate. Door seals and control relays complete the visit, and our written price comes first, before any work begins.

Key features

  • Built-in 30-inch wall oven combining convection and microwave
  • Custom Combination Mode runs microwave and convection heat together
  • Each of these can be chosen on its own: Microwave, Convection Bake, Convection Roast, Broil/Convection Broil
  • A meat-probe input serves Convection Roast and Probe Mode
  • Shares a 64-page Care & Use Manual with the CM301

CM302CM302 questions
Do I need to treat a CM302 differently from a CM301?

Not in any way the manual shows. Thermador documents both in the same 64-page Care & Use Manual with identical features, so we treat them as one design for repairs unless a nameplate says otherwise.

What does Convection Roast and Probe Mode depend on?

A meat probe properly seated in the documented probe port. If errors appear only in that mode, the probe or its port is the suspect rather than the convection heating system.

Microwave heat is weak but baking is normal. What does that tell you?

It tells us the convection side is healthy and the trouble sits in the microwave parts, usually the magnetron or high-voltage circuit. We confirm with separate tests of each mode.
