Thermador DWHD640EFM (Masterpiece Collection)
This is the Masterpiece version of an Emerald-spec build: the capacity and noise rating match the Professional-handle 640EFP, but the handle is a fixed stainless bar. Because it dries by condensation and has no built-in softener, it is the sort of dishwasher that shows its age through mineral deposits where the water is hard.
Drying codes here lead to the standard heat-pump and condensation path, since there is no separate Zeolite chamber. In daily calls, drain and fill codes dominate. We read the display first, and if an E15 base-water code is showing, we tell owners to close the supply valve before anything else is touched. Mineral codes (E12/E2060) get a look at scale on the heating parts, and an uneven door gets a check of the latch.
No. A handle is hardware and appearance. Behind the door, the electronics for washing, draining and control are the same as on the Professional-handle version, so repairs follow identical steps.
In hard-water areas it can be, since nothing treats the water ahead of the wash. Descaling on a regular schedule is worth the effort on this model to keep scale off heating parts.
It tells us where to search. A drying complaint here follows the heat-pump and condensation route, because this unit has no Zeolite chamber that could be responsible.
