Thermador DWHD770CPR
Here the cabinet maker is part of the story. The DWHD770CPR is ordered without a panel or handle, so whoever built the front chose its weight, thickness and finish, and everything the door does afterward depends on it. A cabinet front that looks perfect when installed can pull the door out of line within a year or two.
That is why we weigh the situation before touching a spring. If the door falls open, we adjust the tension; if it will not stay shut, the latch gets realigned; if the panel is much heavier than a stainless door, we tell the owner that springs alone may not hold it.
Underneath is a 16-setting Star Sapphire with a third rack, 42 dBA wash sound and StarDry. Thermador shows the model as no longer available and names DWHD661EPR as the successor. Condensation near the cabinet after a cycle points to the door seal or the vent.
The panel is supplied separately, so weight and thickness depend on the cabinet maker. We adjust the springs to suit and tell you if the panel is too heavy for the door.
Steam can escape through a worn seal or a blocked vent. We inspect the seal and vent, and check the panel gap so condensation does not reach the wood.
The wash system is the same family as other Star Sapphire models. The difference is the door, so most service differences relate to hinges, springs and latch alignment.
