A drop-down door and a 2-Hour Self-Clean cycle define the POD301W. It is the Professional single oven for people who want the traditional front-opening door, 29 3/4 inches wide, with a 4.5 cu. ft. cavity inside. The cleaning cycle is the feature that most often brings service calls, because it takes the oven to high temperature while the door lock engages.
When a clean ends with the door still locked, we look at the latch motor, its switch and the cavity temperature reading, not at the control board. A door that falls open too fast, on the other hand, usually has a worn hinge spring. The door hinges and springs are quick to check and inexpensive to correct.
The oven runs on 240/208 volts at 30 amps and 6400 watts, so heat-related problems get a supply check first. True Convection and the other 15 modes use the same fan and elements in different combinations, which helps isolate which part has stopped doing its job. We quote in writing before any part is ordered.
Wait until it has fully cooled, turn off the breaker briefly and try again. If it remains locked, the latch motor or switch needs testing; forcing it can break the lock lever.
Some smoke from burned-on residue is expected. Heavy smoke every time suggests too much buildup, so wipe up spills first. Persistent smell without residue may point to insulation or an element problem we should inspect.
The hinge springs have probably weakened. We test them in pairs and replace both so the door supports its weight evenly, then check the gasket and glass for any strain.
