PODMC301W

Thermador PODMC301W

What we most often repair on units like this

  1. Magnetron or turntable motor in the lower speed oven fails on its own, leaving the upper convection oven unaffected
  2. Burned-out MaxBroil element upstairs
  3. Worn rotisserie motor
  4. Problems with the upper Multi-Point probe
  5. Home Connect drops that interrupt remote monitoring of either oven

Two kinds of oven share the PODMC301W. On top is a Professional convection oven of 4.5 cu ft with 16 modes; underneath is a 4.7 cu ft speed oven with 36 modes, microwave included. They draw 10,200 watts between them. Here is the odd part: Thermador lists a 16A circuit, remarkably light for that wattage next to its other double ovens, which is why we compare the nameplate against the breaker in the panel on service visits.

Treat the cavities as separate appliances living in one cabinet. If the speed oven yields no heat in microwave mode, the magnetron, turntable motor and high-voltage diode are our suspects. The Rotisserie and MaxBroil elements above belong to a different system altogether.

Tell us which cavity misbehaves and what it did; each gets its own diagnosis.

PODMC301WPODMC301W questions
Is the bottom oven just a second regular oven?

No. It is a complete speed oven offering 36 modes, microwave, convection and broil among them, so it does more than the Microwave-only lower cavity on models such as the POM301W while remaining separate from the oven above.

What supply does the PODMC301W want?

Thermador's spec sheet says 240/208V at 16A even though the combined rating is 10,200W. Check the nameplate against the circuit that is actually installed before diagnosing any power complaint.

Which oven do I report when something stops heating?

Tell us whether it is the lower speed oven and whether the trouble appears in microwave mode, since its parts are separate from those of the upper convection oven and we test them separately.
