MEMC301

Thermador MEMC301

What we most often repair on units like this

  1. Microwave section dies: magnetron, high-voltage diode or turntable motor
  2. Circuit protection is too small for the 50A requirement in the documentation
  3. Convection element or fan quits while the microwave stays alive
  4. Door seal or hinge wear
  5. Corroded wiring at the junction box

Thermador’s earlier Masterpiece combination design is the MEMC301, a 30-inch built-in oven that pairs convection heating with a microwave section. It is the Masterpiece Collection twin of the Professional PODM301, and the installation manual gives both the same 50A circuit on a four-wire, single-phase supply that accepts 208V or 240V AC.

Two heating systems live in this cabinet, so a no-heat complaint has to be traced to the right one before parts are ordered. Arcing, a turntable that will not move, or no microwave heat with the door properly closed all implicate the magnetron and the high-voltage circuit. Poor browning or weak baking implicates the convection elements and fan.

We also confirm that the breaker really fits the 50A figure, since a mismatch on an older installation can look exactly like an oven failure. Door seal, hinges and the junction box wiring finish the inspection.

Key features

  • Masterpiece combination oven with microwave, built in, 30 inches wide
  • Four-wire, single-phase feed for either 208V or 240V AC
  • Needs a 50A circuit, according to the documentation
  • Shares its electrical platform with the Professional PODM301 of the same period

MEMC301MEMC301 questions
Which breaker rating suits the MEMC301?

Thermador's installation manual calls for 50 amps, the same figure documented for the Professional PODM301 combination oven, so an electrician can treat the two ovens alike when checking a circuit.

Does this oven have Home Connect?

It does not. This legacy combination oven predates Home Connect and carries no Wi-Fi module, so there is nothing to pair with an app and diagnosis stays hands-on, one heating system at a time.

Why does the microwave sometimes quit while the oven side still bakes?

The microwave and convection sections are separate heating systems. One can fail without the other, which is a normal pattern for a combination oven and helps us narrow down the failed part.
