In Thermador’s Masterpiece double-oven line, the MED302WS ranks above the ME302WS. The cavities are the same 4.5 cu ft, yet the upper oven offers 16 modes with Rotisserie and MaxBroil, and its probe is a Multi-Point Temperature Meat Probe where the ME302WS has a single-point one. Combined, the ovens use 9,200W on a 240/208V, 40A circuit.
MaxBroil by itself is rated at 4,800 watts and uses a 12-pass broil element. When broil mode produces nothing, a burned-out element is more likely than a control problem, and we confirm that with a meter before ordering parts.
Thermador rates the rotisserie for a roast or bird weighing up to 12 lb. A motor that strains on a lighter load is underperforming; a worn drive motor or bearing is the better guess than a power shortage. With more relays upstairs and a probe whose sensing points can fail individually, isolating the cause takes patience.
Thermador's documentation lists 16 upper-oven modes where the ME302WS has 13, a Multi-Point probe instead of a single-point one, a rotisserie, and the stronger MaxBroil element, with a 9,200W draw against 8,800W.
Thermador's product listing rates it at 12 lb of roast or poultry. If it labors with far less than that, the drive motor or its bearing deserves a look, and we would test it before suspecting anything else.
Not at all. That pattern points to the MaxBroil element, which works harder than ordinary elements. Replacing it is usually a contained repair, and we quote it in writing first.
