MEMCW301

Thermador MEMCW301

What we most often repair on units like this

  1. Microwave section fails: magnetron, high-voltage diode or turntable motor
  2. Breaker too small for what the documentation requires, 50A
  3. Convection cavity loses an element or its fan, while the microwave keeps going
  4. Door seal or hinge wear
  5. Wiring at the junction box corrodes with age

Thermador built the MEMCW301 alongside the MEMC301 and MEMCW271, siblings of one generation: a 30-inch Masterpiece combination oven mixing convection heat with a microwave section. Its documented circuit is 50A, on a four-wire, single-phase supply for 208V or 240V AC, per the installation manual.

Microwave and convection are functionally separate systems here, so a silent microwave beside a baking oven, or the reverse, is a normal failure pattern and no proof of one shared problem. We work out which system a reported sign belongs to before replacing anything.

The checks that follow: magnetron, high-voltage diode and turntable motor on the microwave side; elements and fan on the convection side; then the door seal, hinges and any corrosion at the junction box, which is likely on an appliance of this age.

Key features

MEMCW301MEMCW301 questions
Which circuit does the MEMCW301 need?

A 50A circuit. Thermador's installation manual allows a four-wire, single-phase supply at 208V or 240V AC, and lists the same requirement for the MEMC301 and MEMCW271.

Is this the 30-inch or the 27-inch model?

The 30-inch one. Its narrower sibling, the MEMCW271, is built the same way for a 27-inch opening, so check the width as well as the nameplate before ordering parts.

My oven bakes but the microwave is silent. Is it all one problem?

Probably not. The two sections fail independently, so a working oven side tells us the trouble is confined to the microwave parts, which we then test one by one.
